Following an invitation to tender from GD Construction Ltd, GB Heating successfully secured the mechanical services installation at the above project. Working closely with the main contractor and SVM Consulting we have provided the team and skills to install the mechanical services in the refurbished ward for the Central & North West London Mental Health Unit. The work included:

  • A range of galvanised GSS supply and extract air ducting was installed from the level 7 plant room area dropping via service risers to level 5 before distributing to all rooms, bathrooms and communal areas. A range of diffusers and grilles provide final termination.
  • A fire strategy was agreed and suitable fire dampers installed to include Mode 6 dampers connected to fire alarm system.
  • Provide new Senior Moducel air handling plant and VES extract fans to level 7 plant room, the plant was craned onto the roof utilising a specialist lifting contractor.
  • New supply and extract ventilation was provided to serve the new kitchen area.
  • New heating flow and return service pipework was adapted and re-connected to the new air handling unit at plant room level 7.
  • Supply and install Autron low surface temperature radiators (60No) complete with thermostatic valves.
  • Modify mild steel heating flow and return pipework and adapt to re-pipe new radiators.
  • Extend from the existing domestic service risers new hot, cold and secondary pipework services to all bathrooms, shower rooms and kitchens, utilising galvanised steel for the cold water down service and copper for all other remaining services.
  • Install a fully co-ordinated UPVC above ground drainage and waste system complete with anti-syphon pipework reconnected to the existing services.
  • Install all free issue specialist sanitary ware to approx 27 rooms, comprising showers, WHB’s and WC’s.
  • A specialist insulation contractor was employed to insulate the new services in H&V sections of mineral wool along with ID banding to BS1710
  • Fully integrated HVAC control panel comprising BMS and outstations along with control wiring was provide in the level 7 plant room.
  • Full ventilation commissioning using a specialist contractor providing results to building services consultant.
  • Comprehensive water treatment to domestic services was carried out by a specialist contractor.
  • A comprehensive operational manual complete with all record drawings prepared on AutoCAD for the client on completion, issued in hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Project co-ordination utilising a number of specialist trades required to service the contract.

Following an invitation to tender from Total Construction, GB Heating successfully secured the mechanical services installation at the above project. Working closely with the main contractor and Hitek Consulting we have provided the team and skills to install the mechanical and public health services to the refurbished property being converted into 3 luxury flats for Cadogan Estates. The work included:

  • Each flat was independently served with new incoming cold water and gas services. New gas services where installed utilising TracPipe from the meters to each flat.
  • A cold water booster set was installed in the vaulted under-croft to increase water pressure to the top floor flat.
  • All flats have independent LPHW heating systems complete with Worcester Bosch boilers, controls and Modular Heating Plan panel radiators and thermostatic valves.
  • Hot and cold water distribution services extend to all bathrooms, kitchens and cloakrooms via a ZIP Aquaflo unvented hot water storage cylinder.
  • Honeywell programmer and room thermostates provide optimum control of the heating and hot water systems.
  • Trace heating provides frost protection to the incoming cold water services controlled via thermostats a the point of entry.
  • A secondary hot water circuit is provided to prevent long delays and dead legs of cold water.
  • Small kitchen and bathroom ducted extract system connect to the specialist kitchen hoods and fans to external grilles.
  • In certain areas the ducting is fired rated to comply with the buildings fire strategy.
  • External grilles were specially ordered to a specific colour to match the external colour of the brickwork.
  • New internal Ensign cast iron soil stacks rise up through the property to serve a range of bathrooms and kitchens. The vertical stacks are insulated with foil faced mineral wool to reduce noise from the movement of water.
  • A Timesaver “Heritage” external soil stack system has been provided in the rear courtyard, the Heritage styling is in keeping with period building.
  • The sanitary ware was of a high standard and supplied by the main contractor. GB Heating set out the installation to a specific set of dimensions and requirements by the architects Paul Davis Partners.
  • All internal services have been insulated with Armafllex closed cell Class ‘O’  to BS……….
  • Comprehensive water treatment to domestic services was carried out by a specialist contractor and certificates provided accordingly.
  • A comprehensive operational manual complete with all record drawings prepared on AutoCAD for the client on completion, issued in hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Project co-ordination utilising a number of specialist trades required to service the contract.
